A new card - crazy crazy life getting in the way

G'day everyone!
It's been a while - sorry. Life has been getting in my way lately.
Check out the latest card I've done for my friend Lizzie's birthday. It is simple but elegant (and quite her I think). What's more, I started to use a few different techniques and colours combined, and I was really happy how it turned out.
I would love your thoughts.
I used a plain card I got (I love cheap blank cards with matching envelopes). I used the Moulin Rouge 6 x 6 pack. I love the images in this pack, and suit Liz's love of theatre and dance... and of course, MOULIN ROGUE!
Also used my martha stuart butterfly punch and around all the edges I blankened them then added a bronze layer on top. I like it. I think it looks burnt a little :)
If anyone wants to know the stamp for the writing, let me know and I'll dig it out :)

The envelope with the same butterfly theme

Inside the card. Same butterfly theme. The piece of paper is also card stock from the moulin rouge. Like I said before I love this card stock. I ripped the edges and did the same blank and bronze technique I used before.

Tell us your thought. My boyfriend believes I need a new punch because I am giving my butterfly one a real work out.

Tags for future scrapbook

G'day Everyone!

So I have something new to share with you. After being inspired by one of my fellow aussie scrapbooking artists, I have made the following tags for a future scrapbook project I will be working on. I am quite happy how they turned out. The reverse side will have journalling on it :) They are loosely based around virtues and the late victorian era.

All of the tags

So thoughts? :)

Get Well Card

G'day everyone!

So today I would like to share with you a get well soon card I made for my friend Bec. It is a Tri-Fold card - the first time I've tried on. Worked quite well I think - a bit bigger than others I've seen, but it still stands fine :)

I wanted to keep it bright and happy but have a mature quote on it rather than just "Hey, let's go pick up once you get better!" or something along those lines :)

Part A of quote....

Part B of quote. Ahhh... Winston Churchill. Hate the man for many reasons, but he was good with words.

And an old photo of Bec and I. It is my favourite one.

Anyway, that's me. I was wondering if anyone would be interested if I did a tutorial on a different type of flower embellishment making?
Let me know!

Another voucher!

G'day everyone!

Guess what? I did another voucher. Not too snazzy I know but want to share it with you anyway :)

Terry's sister knows everyone is pitching in to help buy her a ipad but Terry didn't want to put cash in a card. Instead, he is giving it to her boyfriend and this will be inside her card. Muh ha ha ha!

Thoughts? Ideas? Random quote? Share it with me!

A day of rest... how lovely!

G'day everyone!

I had a WONDERFUL day of complete rest today, doing as little as possible - catching up on some TV I've recorded as well as scrapping along :)
And I got to make a gorgeous (lil "over-the-top" (according to my brother)) card for my grandmother (who is a lil 'over-the-top' herself :))

I also did it for Marivic's June Purple Garden Challenge - Check out the entries here... so lovely and inspiring!

Anyway... my fun time:

So materials used: ribbon (wired - so easy to use), card stock, sticky half pearls (Tealy green) and this wicked little cameo from 'Webster's pages silhouettes'. Gorgeous! (And isn't my Nan gorgeous?)

TEXTURE! Love that ribbon

Close up on the cameo and butterfly - once again made with my new hole puncher

Very cute text and of course, more close up on those butterflies!

I had a lot of fun with this card, although a few places stumped me. After I started making it, I wished the card was bigger.

That's all for now scrappers!

P.S. As always, would love your feedback.

Voucher

G'day everyone!

Look at this voucher I made for my friend Dot - it is for a surprise present.
Lots of fun and I have had another request to make another voucher for Terry's sister :) People are starting to really like my work - my mum thought her card was amazing... dad thought I bought it from the store *giggles*

Anyway, my first voucher!

The front :) I got to use my new stamp set, distress ink and butterfly hole punch!

 I love these flutterbys! :D

And the back... yes I know, I seem obsessed with butterflies!

That's all for now folks :)

New card - New butterfly hole punch

G'day everyone,

Sorry it have been a long time since my last post. Uni and work has gone CRAZY! But the long weekend, plus Terry doing some work around his house, I had some time to finally do some projects I had been meaning to get onto.

The first one I want to share is this card I made for Shellie, Terry's sister. Her birthday is in July :)
Love to hear your thoughts!

The front - new materials I've used... the butterfly hole punch I bought to make these GORGEOUS little embellishments. I have A LOT of fun playing with this today.
I also got some silver pigment ink - a lot fun as well.

Inside the card.

Detail of the butterflies.

The card and the matching envelope.

Tell me what you think. Next up will be the voucher I made for another friend - for a surprise present her friends are setting up for her :)

Until next time,
Kirilee

Lovers Mini Scrapbook

G'day everyone!

Over the last two nights, instead of doing my economics assignment (which is due on Monday and I have over 1700 words still to write... and then there are other assignments to be done too), I made a mini!
It was inspired by Laura's (from following the paper trail: http://followingthepapertrail.blogspot.com/) tutorial found Snip and Fold Mini Album.

Mine is a present I want to give to my boyfriend. We've been together for over two years and I wanted to create something that was cute and had some of my favourite photos in it of us too from special points.

This mini was so easy to make - the main bulk of it is made from one A4 sheet of paper. REALLY easy. See the tutorial above for more info.

This is also the first time I've tried using tags! It was fun. Might do it again some day.

So... the pictures!

The cover... pretty blank, not much to it... but I love the pattern on it! Just made from card stock.

An example of the tags. So one side is a photo of Terry and I (with a stamp underneath) and on the back is some journaling (another cute little stamp - this is another one from my favourite red dot shop!)

What the inside looks like.

I LOVE THIS BUTTERFLY STAMP! I have a lot of fun aging the paper too.

So the next thing I am thinking of doing (once I do my assignments for uni) is experiment with distressing ink - since so many scrappers go on about it... and try some embossing too. Looks cool.

See you for now!

Dot's (belated birthday card)

G'day all!

I just wanted to share with you this card I made last night. I am super proud of it because I feel like it is a lot more interesting to look at than the last card I created for Mum.
This one is for my friend Dot who I think is a very fun and fun loving individual... so I tried to make a card to match how I see her :) What do you think?

The front cover. Finally got to use my patterned scissors my boyfriend bought me! I love the butterfly and lettering... from Red Dot again. I swear, I'm buying them out of stuff.

Flutter flutter!

Inside the card. I used the same patterned paper from the front page. And easy to write on.

Matching envelope!

Now ladies (and gents) it is up to you to let me know if you have any suggestions or general feedback!

xoxo

Mum's birthday card

G'day everyone!

So I wanted to share with you some photos of a quick, cute card I made for my mum's birthday. It is the first card I've done for a couple of years, so it is pretty simple.

The card from the front-ish. Mum loves dogs, so when I saw this embellishment as a pack of 2 for a $1, I couldn't resist. I love red dot - have some crazy cute scrapbooking stuff. Shame it is quite random in its stock.

Another view of the doggy. The lace print is my favourite stamp. It is part of a four clear stick on stamp set... some pretties!

Simple with lots of space to write a personal message

The lace stamp again but this time with another stamp I love but don't get to use too often. It is part of a pretty nifty set I bought from red dot again... I think the set of 3 cost me $2... and it is brilliant!

First post & First from Scratch Scrapbook!

G'day everyone!

Welcome to my very first post! I'm very excited because I used to have a livejournal ages ago, just where I could journal a bit about everything, and I miss it. But I just felt like I needed something with a bit more direction. So I thought, why not a blog about my arts and crafts loves?

So, the very first thing I would like to share with you is my newest scrapbook that I created from my friend Olivia. Now I had never made a scrapbook from scratch, so this was an experiment in itself. I decided to keep it simple and for the first time, really try to stick to a colour theme. So I tried sticking to Grey/Silver, Yellow/Gold, & Purples (Purple is Olivia's favourite colour :)).

There is something else I should tell you. The pages are made from plastic bags. I saw this cool tutorial by Laura from following the paper trail (Youtube video: How to turn plastic bags into scrapbooking pages & Blog Spot: Following the Paper Trail) that made me really excited. So I gave it a crack, and I love how much texture each page had. Seriously, if you love scrapbooking, you have to try it. I would love to do another one of these at some point and make a scrapbook out of completely recycle-able items.

So without further hesistation... the scrapbook! It is all about Olivia and some of the characters she has played on stage. With each photo I've included a Shakespearean piece of text that has something to do with the character she was playing or the play she was in. (She is very passionate about Shakespeare :)).

The Front (& Back) Cover

A sample page... photo, Shakespearean text, flowers...

See how much texture the pages have? MUCH LOVE!

Probably one of my two favourite quotes... and also a close up of a page... look at that texture!

So that is me for now. I have a card I made for my mum's birthday that I plan on telling you about later. Other than that, if you know Olivia - don't tell her about the scrapbook. I just wanted to share it with everyone except her. She'll be getting it soon enough :P

((I also made a video about this scrapbook - but it isn't so great :) - Video of some Australian talking....))

See you all later!
